Inspiration In The Everyday

July 28, 2016

It is indeed a strange and wonderful thing, inspiration. And exasperating too, sometimes! We can wait days and weeks and even years for inspiration to appear, or it can come in the blink of an eye.  For our second range, we wanted to focus on something all of us can identify with, something we do and practice on the daily. There were many sleepless nights (!), discarded ideas, duas and prayers. And then it occurred to us, how big a part the concept of Salam or Peace plays in our lives. The word Islam, itself, means peaceful and willing submission. We greet one another by wishing peace. And in a wider role, we wish for peace, the existence of an ideal society, Dar-As Salaam,... Baby Steps

June 20, 2015

We had the opportunity to open a booth at two conferences which took place recently at Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Putrajaya, Malaysia. First was Ilmfest, on 16th and 17th May. It was the first time we were showing our bags to the public, so it was quite nerve-wracking! In the end, though, it turned out to be a lovely experience as we met so many lovely visitors to the booth.     The second was the Being ME conference on 13th June 2015, a women only conference which this year is entitled Love, Aisha. Again, we had lots of fun meeting the other booth participants and were beginning to feel like old hands in the conference circuit (ha!) In the future,... Continue Reading →

And So It Begins

May 01, 2015

Welcome to the Hessa website! It’s been an interesting journey, from a teeny, tiny idea taking root and setting up camp in the brain and refusing to let go, all the way to this, the lovely realization of a dream. We wouldn’t change a single thing though, for hurdles and obstacles teach us that some things are worth it.   We hope to bring out something for everyone, from totes to slings to backpacks and everything in between. It might take a while though, so please bear with us. After all, good things come to those who wait!    In the meantime, we hope you like what we currently have on offer. All feedback and suggestions warmly welcomed, so write away!... Continue Reading →

CHARITY OF THE MONTH - MARCH 2018

April 13, 2018

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh It's now just over a month away from Ramadan, and around this time of year, we normally choose a charity that helps those less fortunate receive some food for their iftar.  This year, we have chosen the Ramadan Aid Mission run by the Muslim Volunteer Malaysia (MVM) for Rohingya Refugees. Guided by the principle of ‘Action Today Will Change the Future’, MVM hopes to create a caring society so that communities are strengthened, social responsibilities are implemented and all of us join together to lighten the burden of those in need. The sum of only RM10 can sponsor a person's meal for iftar under their Rohingya: We Care appeal. They hope to provide meals for 20,000 Rohingya... Continue Reading →

CHARITY OF THE MONTH - FEBRUARY 2018

March 11, 2018

This February, we have chosen a wonderful charity as our charity of the month - the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF). Founded in the USA in 1991, the PCRF aims to provide medical and humanitarian relief collectively and individually to Arab children throughout the Levant, regardless of their nationality, politics or religion. They have  professional volunteer medical advisors in many different specialties from all over the world who help to direct and support the treatment of patients and developing long-term support for training and medical missions. Last year, they sent 145 medical missions to Gaza, West Bank, Jordan and Lebanon, sent 40 children abroad for medical treatment and and benefited 12,786 children.  Recently, amongst others, they sponsored 15 children from Syria... CHARITY OF THE MONTH - JANUARY 2018

February 12, 2018

It's a new year, let's make it a fresh start and fill it with great intentions! :)) For January 2018, we have chosen Suka Society as our Charity of the Month. SUKA Society or Persatuan Kebajikan Suara Kanak-kanak Malaysia (SUKA) is a registered Non Governmental Organization established to protect and preserve the best interests of children. Their main focus right now is in three main areas, namely greater access to education for Orang Asli children, protecting and restoring women and child survivors of human trafficking and advocating for alternatives to detention for children affected by arrest and detention.   It's no wonder that they were awarded the United Nations Malaysia Award 2015 for their work. They run wonderful programmes to make sure... Continue Reading →

CHARITY OF THE MONTH - DECEMBER 2017

January 12, 2018

For the last month of the 2017, we chose Make-A-Wish Malaysia as our charity of the month. The Make-A-Wish charities around the world started in USA in 1980, but the Malaysian chapter began in 2010.   The charity helps children aged between 3-18 years suffering from life-threatening medical conditions to realize their wishes, hopes and dreams. Some wish to be a policeman or a princess for a day, and others wanted a day out at a special place (like dear litte Aisya Zahira (battling Suprasellar Germ Cell Tumour) at Legoland) :)      ... and little Luqman (battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia), who wanted to ride in a sports car :)))    And look at little Almas in her shiny red...
