Assalamualaikum, We love when people get together to do wonderful things for the less fortunate ... and invite even more people to join them! Now this is a squad we will be cheering for! For the month of June 2018, our charity of the month is the Ukhwah 4 Ummah, and specifically their Squad - Global Celebrity Volunteer campaign. Ukhwah for Ummah is an NGO, aiming to invite people to the program and instil brotherhood among fellow Muslims and showcase the beauty of Islam to other religions. They hold monthly tarbiah and motivational programs, shahadah programmes for new Muslim brothers and sisters, visits to orphanages and the elderly, and also launched global compaigns to raise funds to build a mosque in... Inspiration In The Everyday

July 28, 2016

It is indeed a strange and wonderful thing, inspiration. And exasperating too, sometimes! We can wait days and weeks and even years for inspiration to appear, or it can come in the blink of an eye.  For our second range, we wanted to focus on something all of us can identify with, something we do and practice on the daily. There were many sleepless nights (!), discarded ideas, duas and prayers. And then it occurred to us, how big a part the concept of Salam or Peace plays in our lives. The word Islam, itself, means peaceful and willing submission. We greet one another by wishing peace. And in a wider role, we wish for peace, the existence of an ideal society, Dar-As Salaam,... Baby Steps

June 20, 2015

We had the opportunity to open a booth at two conferences which took place recently at Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Putrajaya, Malaysia. First was Ilmfest, on 16th and 17th May. It was the first time we were showing our bags to the public, so it was quite nerve-wracking! In the end, though, it turned out to be a lovely experience as we met so many lovely visitors to the booth.     The second was the Being ME conference on 13th June 2015, a women only conference which this year is entitled Love, Aisha. Again, we had lots of fun meeting the other booth participants and were beginning to feel like old hands in the conference circuit (ha!) In the future,... Continue Reading →

And So It Begins

May 01, 2015

Welcome to the Hessa website! It’s been an interesting journey, from a teeny, tiny idea taking root and setting up camp in the brain and refusing to let go, all the way to this, the lovely realization of a dream. We wouldn’t change a single thing though, for hurdles and obstacles teach us that some things are worth it.   We hope to bring out something for everyone, from totes to slings to backpacks and everything in between. It might take a while though, so please bear with us. After all, good things come to those who wait!    In the meantime, we hope you like what we currently have on offer. All feedback and suggestions warmly welcomed, so write away!... Continue Reading →

Assalamualaikum! It was a hectic time for us recently as we unveiled 2 new bags, so we decided to pool the RM10 from the sale of each bag in July and August and make one donation, to a very worthy cause, the UNRWA.   The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East was established in 1949 to carry out direct relief and works programmes for Palestine refugees. When it began operations in 1950, it provided aid to about 750,000 Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem; today the number has increased to 5 million. UNRWA human development and humanitarian services include primary and vocational education,... Continue Reading →

Assalamualaikum The news of brother Ali Banat's passing recently greatly saddened us. Being diagnosed with cancer, instead of bringing him down, in fact spurred him on to change his life and to continuously seek the pleasure of Allah s.w.t.. For our charity of the month, we have chosen brother Ali's charity, MATW (Muslims Around The World) Project.   MATW- Muslims Around The World started out in October 2015 to assist those less fortunate in the poverty stricken areas of Togo in Africa. It aims to build a village which will be home to over 200 widows, a masjid for the local community and a school to house 600 orphans. A mini hospital/medical centre and businesses to support the local community are also... Continue Reading →

Here at Hessa, we love our teachers, for where would we be without them? For our Charity of the Month for May 2018, we have chosen a Malaysian charity, Teach For Malaysia. Teach For Malaysia is on a mission to end education inequity and believes that a child’s education and future should not be determined by his or her background. So many intelligent children out there are unable to complete their education due to constraints such as their socio-economic backgrounds. Teach For Malaysia has an excellent concept - recruit outstanding graduates and young professionals as 'Fellows' to be full-time teachers in high-need schools for 2 years, and train and support them to teach and collaborate with other teachers and leaders, to be part of the... Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh It's now just over a month away from Ramadan, and around this time of year, we normally choose a charity that helps those less fortunate receive some food for their iftar.  This year, we have chosen the Ramadan Aid Mission run by the Muslim Volunteer Malaysia (MVM) for Rohingya Refugees. Guided by the principle of ‘Action Today Will Change the Future’, MVM hopes to create a caring society so that communities are strengthened, social responsibilities are implemented and all of us join together to lighten the burden of those in need. The sum of only RM10 can sponsor a person's meal for iftar under their Rohingya: We Care appeal. They hope to provide meals for 20,000 Rohingya... Continue Reading →
