For the month of November 2017, RM10 from each bag sold was chanelled to Humanitatian Care Malaysia, or MyCare, and specifically to one of their 6 humanitarian agencies, Aqsa Syarif.

MyCare is a non-proft organization, functioning as an umbrella for 6 agencies which previously worked independently. By joining forces, all humanitarian efforts can be united so that all potential, resources and expertise can be shared for the benefit of humanity.

Established in 2010, Aqsa Syarif was formed by individuals passionate about the struggle to liberate al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestine. It has disbursed RM45 million worth of aid in 5 years, and is one of the key partners in a global fundraising initiative to rebuild Gaza.

If you would like to learn more about MyCare or Aqsa Syarif, please visit their website or their Facebook page. Please donate generously, for Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

'Charity does not in any way decrease the wealth and the servant who forgives, Allah adds to his respect; and the one who shows humility, Allah elevates him in the estimation (of the people).'

Our online store was closed for three weeks in August and September, therefore we have decided to pool the collection from the sale of our bags for these 2 months and choose only one charity.

In November 2016, our charity of the month was the Myanmar Emergency Appeal by Muslim Aid. Recent events, however, made us realize that help is needed more than ever for our Rohingya brothers and sisters in Myanmar. This time, we have chosen the Human Relief Foundation (HRF) as our charity of the month.

The specific appeal we have chosen is the Rohingya Emergency Appeal.

The Rohingya have suffered years of persecution in Myanmar, and UN figures indicate that over 85,000 have arrived in Bangladesh following the violence. So far most other nations are reluctant to help, save a few such as Bangladesh and Turkey.

HRF are helping by providing food packs, installing water wells and pumps to ensure clean water supply and running medical camps in Bangladesh for the refugees arriving at the border. Medical doctors, nurses and helpers aid up to 80 vulnerable people in on day, prescribing patients check-ups and prescriptions.

You can visit the HRF website here or their Facebook page here, to learn more about their wonderful efforts and how you can help. Give to another in need and Insyaa Allah, help will be there for us when we are in need.

Jazakumullahu khair to our purchasers!

Assalamualaikum everyone! :)

For the month of July 2017, we are guided by our beloved Prophet s.a.w' s hadith:

"If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift (sadaqah) for him." - Imam Bukhari.

Our charity is the Trees for Life programme run by the Palestine Fair Trade Association which provides olive & almond saplings to Palestinian farmers and covers the majority of the cost of the saplings.

The Trees for Life initiative, which started in 2006, targets young families, starter farmers, small farmers, women farmers, and farmers who have recently cultivated lands impacted by the Israeli wall or subject to field or trees destruction by the Israeli military. In 2016, more than 13,542 saplings have been distributed to more than 250 farmers in 20 various villages in the west bank.

Our contribution was chanelled through Zaytoun, a social enterprise and community interest company based in the UK, which aims to create and develop a UK market for artisanal Palestinian produce.

For further info, please visit the PFTA website here or you can also read all about Zaytoun and make a donation here.

Barakallahu feek to our July customers :)

We celebrated Eid at the end of June 2017, and for many of us it was a beautiful event, shared by family and friends, with plenty to eat and drink and often lasting for several days. For some in the world, though, Eid is hardly celebrated perhaps due to war, poverty, oppression, or various other reasons.

For our Charity of the Month for June, we have chosen Human Appeal, a charity which have  been delivering aid and development programs that transform lives in the world’s poorest nations for more than 25 years.

Specifically we have made a donation on behalf of our June purchasers to their Eid Gift appeal. For only GBP15, a child somewhere in the world will get to know the joy of Eid, perhaps for the first time in their lives.

There is a month of Syawal so there is plenty of time left to give the joy of Eid to a child today :)))

Please visit the Human Appeal website here (where you will find lots of info about their other appeals) or their Facebook page here.

Thank you for reading!

The Prophet s.a.w. said, "A man is not a believer who fills his stomach while his neighbour is hungry."

For the month of April, our charity of the month is Charity Right.

Charity Right is an international food programme providing regular meals to children and families in the most neglected parts of the world. They focus their efforts on providing regular school meals to children in a place of education. They also seek out communities that are hard to reach, including refugee camps, slums, jungles and remote villages.

Currently they work in Sudan, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Indonesia and are also organizing the Somalian Emergency Appeal for the 16 million people in East Africa currently facing death by starvation.

Assalamualaikum ... several countries in Africa are now facing their worst drought in almost 70 years, and there is now  a significant risk of starvation leading to “mass deaths”, according to United Nations. Four countries – Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan and Yemen – stand on the brink of a new humanitarian crisis brought about by drought and famine.

For the month of March, our charity of the month is the Ummah Welfare Trust's Africa Drought Appeal. We chose Ummah Welfare Trust for their 100% donations policy, every penny of Zakah, Sadaqah and Lillah received is used strictly for charitable purposes.

According to the charity, "Ummah Welfare Trust has been working through 2016 delivering food to drought-hit families in Ethiopia, North Somalia, Malawi and Sudan. In response to the now worsening situation, the charity has relaunched its appeal to assist even more of our hungry brothers and sisters."

We have made a donation on behalf of our purchasers for purchases made in March (RM10 from each bag sold). But there is lots more to be done; please visit their website here to read more and to make a private donation.

Thank you.

This February, we have chosen as our charity of the month, the Turkish charity IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation.

We first heard of the charity when Mufti Ismail Menk visited the border between Turkey and Syria and highlighted the plight of the refugees there.

IHH was set up in 1992, and aimed to deliver aid to everyone in need, such as victims of war, natural disaster, or those wounded, crippled, starved, homeless and persecuted, regardless of religion, language, race or sect. So far they have provided aid in 135 countries and territories, and counting.

Besides providing shelter, food and medical services to Syrian refugees, IHH also provides emergency aid to Gaza, East Turkestan, Rohingya and Iraq. In addition, they also have specific programmes to assist orphans, and also a cataract campaign, a water wells campaign, and various other aid initiatives.

We have made a donation on behalf of our purchasers for the Aid Pack for Syrian Children, but there are various other causes that you can donate to. Please visit their website and also Facebook page for more details of the amazing work that they're doing. May Allah shower His bountiful blessings to all involved and elevate them to the highest ranks of Jannah, ameen.

We welcome 2017 by choosing a truly amazing charity for January, Majlis Kanser Nasional (MAKNA) or the National Cancer Council of Malaysia.

Since 1994, MAKNA has stayed true to its mission -  to mobilise resources in order to provide curative, preventive, research and support services to cancer patients and their families, high-risk groups and the general public, in Malaysia and the world.

The services and assistance they provide are numerous.  They provide financial support to cancer patients who require it, and also provide cancer-related medication and treatment at UKMMC-MAKNA Cancer Centre. They also raise funds for all cancer-related services provided by MAKNA,  organize cancer awareness and education programmes, encourage, support and conduct scientific and medical researches on cancer as well as provide screening and early diagnostic services to enable early detection of cancer.

We have made a contribution on behalf of our January purchasers. If you would like to donate or learn more about their organisation, more information can be found at their website here.  Thank you!
