We love when people get together to do wonderful things for the less fortunate ... and invite even more people to join them! Now this is a squad we will be cheering for!
For the month of June 2018, our charity of the month is the Ukhwah 4 Ummah, and specifically their Squad - Global Celebrity Volunteer campaign.
Ukhwah for Ummah is an NGO, aiming to invite people to the program and instil brotherhood among fellow Muslims and showcase the beauty of Islam to other religions. They hold monthly tarbiah and motivational programs, shahadah programmes for new Muslim brothers and sisters, visits to orphanages and the elderly, and also launched global compaigns to raise funds to build a mosque in Seville, Spain and Tadabur Quran in Egypt.
For their Squad - Global Celebrity Volunteer program, 12 Malaysian celebrities join forces to help raise money for 4 projects in 4 countries - Tabang 4 Marawi (Philippines), Water 4 Malawi (Malawi), School 4 Godda (India) and Misija 4 Bosnia (Bosnia).
For this month, we have chosen the Water 4 Malawi project - aimed at improving health and hygiene levels of vulnerable communities affected by flooding. An estimated 6,000 people are expected to benefit in the provision of water supply to rural Malawi, which is a truly worthwhile cause.
It is indeed a strange and wonderful thing, inspiration. And exasperating too, sometimes! We can wait days and weeks and even years for inspiration to appear, or it can come in the blink of an eye.
For our second range, we wanted to focus on something all of us can identify with, something we do and practice on the daily. There were many sleepless nights (!), discarded ideas, duas and prayers. And then it occurred to us, how big a part the concept of Salam or Peace plays in our lives. The word Islam, itself, means peaceful and willing submission. We greet one another by wishing peace. And in a wider role, we wish for peace, the existence of an ideal society, Dar-As Salaam, more than ever in these difficult times.
For the patterns in the Salam range, we chose olives (a universal symbol of peace), beautiful and bright paper planes spreading peace in a bright blue sky and thirdly, as a reminder of the vast dominion of Allah s.w.t., a mysterious cosmos of constellations and planets.
We hope you like the choices of bags and wallets we provide, and if you are one of our purchasers, that they are a useful reminder of our beautiful religion.
Now, onwards to the next range!
We had the opportunity to open a booth at two conferences which took place recently at Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Putrajaya, Malaysia.
First was Ilmfest, on 16th and 17th May. It was the first time we were showing our bags to the public, so it was quite nerve-wracking! In the end, though, it turned out to be a lovely experience as we met so many lovely visitors to the booth.
The second was the Being ME conference on 13th June 2015, a women only conference which this year is entitled Love, Aisha. Again, we had lots of fun meeting the other booth participants and were beginning to feel like old hands in the conference circuit (ha!)
In the future, Insyaa Allah, we hope to meet more of you!
Welcome to the Hessa website!
It’s been an interesting journey, from a teeny, tiny idea taking root and setting up camp in the brain and refusing to let go, all the way to this, the lovely realization of a dream. We wouldn’t change a single thing though, for hurdles and obstacles teach us that some things are worth it.
We hope to bring out something for everyone, from totes to slings to backpacks and everything in between. It might take a while though, so please bear with us. After all, good things come to those who wait!
In the meantime, we hope you like what we currently have on offer. All feedback and suggestions warmly welcomed, so write away!
